In this photo my Leeward, "Lagniappe", is not yet
out for an official "first sail".  Instead, we've only
placed her in the farm's pond to check for leaks.
Once in the water, we raised her sails to
see how pretty she'd "set" in the water.

I was on my way to fetch the rudder when
I took this picture of Jan rigging the
mainsheet.  Before this photo, The
Luger Sailboat  Mooring had been
online for over a year, and I still
had no photo of my own boat
on water.  It would not be until the
following year that I would
sail her for the first time.

It's not that there was a lot of work to be done, but I am a very slow, part-time boat restorer.  A few years after her purchase, this is a photo of me (finally) enjoying Lagniappe's first day of sailing.

There were still things that needed tweaking - but I really enjoyed the hour spent discovering what few things still needed to be done.

I benefited from a wood chipping session when my boyfriend, Jan, carved a cherry mast holder for my Leeward.

By the time I got the boat back in the water, the leaves had changed and the inaugural
year of Lagniappe's sailing season was near its close.

The wind had been decent earlier, but died by the time I headed back to the mooring.
A friend shot this picture - thanks John! - and I liked the autumn colours
so much that I doctored the photo to use as this page's banner.
(Did you recognize it?)
